I Gobble up Books for Dinner!
Spread them thick with butter and jam,
Place them as leafs in my salads,
Crack them open like clams!

I Gobble up Books for Dinner!
They make me feel hearty and full,
Fills my tummy, fills my mind,
I slurp up words by the spoonfuls!

I Gobble up Books for Dinner!
And now it's time for dessert,
Line up my sprinkles and syrups,
To form a delicious play on sherbet!

I Gobble up Books for Dinner!
Until I become quite overstuffed!
Such wonderful meals that they make,
I just simply can't get enough!
My son enjoys when I read stories to him at bed time. This poem is dedicated to my son. The idea came to me from a cute moment when I told my son that I just read a 300 some page book in less then a day and he was awed by how fast I can read.

Using an analogy, I exclaimed out loud! "I gobble up books for dinner!." Being fully serious, he tells me, "No you can't, you CAN'T eat books!"
